Summerland, California
The first time we headed south of Santa Barbara, California, on the highway, we quickly spotted a sign that read Summerland. I wondered what Summerland, CA., might behold.
Soon after that, we found ourselves taking the back roads into and out of Santa Barbara, which had us passing through Summerland itself—a tiny wisp of a town.
Once I noticed Summerland’s beautiful small local shops, I wanted to wander Summerland’s street. Down one side and back up the other. I only wished I had done so sooner.
A small community with a spiritualist history, Summerland’s local shops presented quality goods, many of which might be found on estates. I loved that I could wander through it all.
Not that I needed to shop. Not that I wished for all those things. But because Summerland’s small local shops—and their outdoor spaces—provided a visually peaceful experience.
Located next to Highway 101, Summerland might not be considered a peaceful auditory experience. Maybe if we choose more eco-transportation, that noise will diminish?
It was lovely to see soy candles, some organic cotton goods, and really cute linen clothing in Summerland (my favorite linen clothes were at Botanik).
And one experience in Summerland was so special that I had to write an entire blog post about it … about a place called The Sacred Space.
