Gluten-Free Vegan Restaurants in Seattle

Time in the Pacific Northwest would not be complete without tasting delicious food from the gluten-free vegan restaurants in Seattle. Even those not celiac or vegan enjoy the adventure of this tasty, extra-special, cruelty-free food that supports our climate.

So, below, I first share about the restaurants in Seattle that serve exclusively gluten-free vegan food. Then, vegan restaurants that have gluten-free options. And, finally, vegetarian restaurants and community market delis that offer gluten-free vegan food.

My hope is that this helps at least one person enjoy Seattle’s incredible local vegan food scene, which exists to help all—the lives of all breathing beings, our health, and this precious earth. You might just find it more incredible than you ever believed possible.

Restaurants in Seattle Serving Exclusively Gluten-Free Vegan Food

Flying Apron

Now located in West Seattle (with a Fremont pick-up location), Flying Apron serves hearty 100% gluten-free vegan food, along with a full espresso bar.

I adore Flying Apron’s exquisite gluten-free vegan lasagna. I have also special-ordered holiday dinner items from Flying Apron, which were so popular I learned to place my orders early.

Flying Apron is where one can eat slow, local, gluten-free vegan food in a warm environment—or take out orders using 100% biodegradable cups, lids, straws, napkins, and silverware. | flying apron on google maps

“Flying Apron was born out of necessity.

“The need for a safe space for folks with food restrictions to eat freely.

“We do not subscribe to an ideology or agenda other than to give options to those who are dietarily restricted due to foodborne allergens or by personal choice.

“At … Flying Apron we are about community, tolerance and most importantly, accessibility to healthy, local, and delicious foods.”

Frankie and Joe’s

Frankie and Joe’s makes ice cream from plants. They always remind me it’s all gluten-free, even the waffle cones, plus soy-free, with some of it even cane sugar-free.

So, even though Frankie and Joe’s is a gluten-free vegan ice cream shop, not a restaurant, I must include them on this list.

Not just because their ice cream is addictive. Not just because one deserves a treat every now and then. But because all beings deserve ice cream that’s climate-friendly.

Found in several locations around Seattle, my favorite place to buy Frankie and Joe’s is at their beautiful University Village ice cream shop on a sunny day.

I’ve found one standard scoop more than I can eat, and plenty to feed two. Because it’s rich and filling (tip: it’s cheaper in the bowl).

I adore their year-round Chocolate Tahini Supercookie gluten-free vegan ice cream and their seasonal blackberry gluten-free vegan sorbet. It. Is. Amazing. | frankie and joe’s on google maps

“Our mission is to radically shift the way you think about ice cream.

“We want to reduce our dependence on animals for our food, our traditions, and our daily lives.

“We believe in order to do this, we have to commit to the arduous goal of always maintaining the highest quality products and service.

“We have to take care of the people inside and outside of our company - tend to their inherent right to safety and love.

“We have to constantly innovate to be magical, to surprise and delight the human mind in this world where fast and more is our state of being, and where it’s all too easy to forget the special moments in life.”

HeartBeet

Originally the iconic Thrive raw food cafe, now located in Queen Anne and in West Seattle, HeartBeet serves 100% gluten-free vegan food.

Mostly raw, organic, and plant-based, HeartBeet offers gluten-free vegan juices, smoothies, soups, bowls, and pies.

I think HeartBeet is the perfect place to go on a warm sunny day to enjoy light and clean food. It feels so special.

And I highly recommend any slice of pie that sounds best to one’s own tastebuds. Their flavors are pure. | heartbeet on google maps

“HeartBeet Organic Superfoods Café is a casual quick-serve superfoods restaurant that was started in 2008 (originally under the name "Thrive") by a local Seattleite named Monica Colgan.

“Monica started the restaurant after her mother, Karen, was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2004.

“After spending some time at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida, she became inspired by seeing the healing that is possible when you eat mostly raw foods.

“So, Monica dreamed of creating a magical place in her hometown, Seattle—a place with vegetables so good, people would get in line to eat them—and with a lot of hard work and the support of the community, it became so.”

Restaurants in Seattle Serving Exclusively Vegan Food (with Gluten-Free Options)

Araya’s Place

Araya’s vegan Thai food restaurant is located just down the street from where I lodged for more than six months—in Seattle’s University District. Araya’s Place is also found on Madison ST.

It was so lovely to walk down to Araya’s, get to know the staff, enjoy their amazing lunch buffet, plus delight in their fresh rolls (which I may or may not have dipped excessively into sides of peanut sauce), or imbibe in dinner.

And during Seattle’s hot summertime, Araya’s provided a much-needed respite from some unbearable heat. Everything is vegan. Many items are gluten-free. | araya’s on google maps

“Araya’s Place is named after our mother. In her days of being young and adventurous, Araya spent time traveling the world and developing a passion for good food.

“What she learned … is not only how important the right ingredients and herbs are to food, but how the right company makes good food great. This is a lesson she instilled in her children.

“Araya’s Place is the 1st vegan Thai restaurant in the northwest. We’ve been open since 1987 and are family-owned and operated, providing vegetarian food while supporting our local farms.

“Every dish is prepared fresh to order. This means we can accommodate to everyone’s needs, including dietary and allergy restrictions.”

Broadfork

Broadfork’s beautiful cafe in the University District (or their simple cafe in the Uptown neighborhood, where take-out might be best) serves plant-based vegan fare.

With a small menu, their gluten-free options are also minimal, yet I love their simple, rustic, gluten-free vegan Yam & Kale Bowl filled with roasted yams, quinoa, smoked paprika kale, and a perfect garlic tahini sauce.

I keep meaning to order extra garlic tahini sauce, it’s so good—plus their gluten-free vegan burger, which sounds delish. | broadfork on google maps

“Chef Lois’ goal for our food and menu is to create community and connection through food … source from other businesses that share our values, of organic, sustainable & local.

“Our main supplier of herbs and spices is Mountain Rose Herbs, who stocks only organic herbs, spices, and teas.

“We get organic maple syrup farmer-direct from Stannard Farms in Vermont.

“Northbest Natural Products distributes some of the best natural foods, including Andean Naturals Organic Quinoa. This quinoa is head and shoulders better than most of the product out there!

“Earthly Gourmet distributes products from lots of small Portland-area businesses, so we have access to a greater variety of small-batch foods, like Oregon Brineworks!”

ChuMinh Tofu

ChuMinh Tofu serves 100% vegan food in Seattle’s Chinatown/International District, with gluten-free options.

This currently includes spring rolls, summer rolls, autumn rolls, soups, rice, tofu seaweed, tofu mushroom, curries, pineapple tofu, and jackfruit.

ChuMinh Tofu is also known for the caring steps they take to directly feed Seattle’s homeless community. | chuminh tofu on google maps

“Every single dish on our menu is vegan! (This includes our bánh mì ‘meat’ options).

“ChuMinh supports a group of volunteers (‘The Egg Rolls’) that helps provide meals and necessities to local community members in Little Saigon.

“Every Sunday, from 10:30am-12:30pm, we serve free meals outside our restaurant to anyone who needs it!”

Cycle Dogs

Cycle Dogs was once a vegan bicycle cart, then a vegan food truck, now a vegan restaurant located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

This is where one can find the vegan version of standard American fast food, including Seattle’s famous Dick’s Drive-In burger—yes, a vegan version of Dick’s is found at Cycle Dogs.

Cycle Dogs also sells their own famous sauces by the jar.

While the online menu does not currently specify which items are gluten-free, I inquired before placing my order and Cycle Dogs kindly ensured my meal was gluten-free. | cycle dogs on google maps

”Keaton [was] working a corporate desk job at an architectural firm, many steps removed from seeing anyone tangibly enjoying his work. He then decided to parlay his love of cooking, commitment to a vegan lifestyle, and knack for bicycles, to start a food business.

“Cycle Dogs was born, as Seattle’s first all-vegan hot dog stop.  (A vegan diet has nearly half the carbon footprint of a traditional omnivore diet, and for many it’s also about compassion and personal health.)

“Cycle Dogs started as a one-man operation, with a hot dog cart pulled behind a tricked-out custom bicycle. Most of you know us as the mighty vegan food truck that could, with a small crew.

“After almost 4 years as a food truck, we have moved into a restaurant space in Ballard with help from our customers and Kickstarter.”

Galaxy Rune

A small vegan diner tucked into a hidden corner of Fremont, Galaxy Rune makes vegan burgers and sandwiches for all—intentionally appealing to those who are not vegan.

Vegans embrace this.

Freshly grilled, arriving at the table (indoor or out) wrapped in biodegradable paper, each bite of their gluten-free vegan cheeseburger revealed tangy pickles dripping deliciously with special sauce and melting cheese.

The mushroom burger was equally incredible.

Online, the gluten-free menu is not immediately obvious until one clicks through to the order page, where the gluten-free options appear.

Galaxy Rune stipulates that cross-contamination is possible, yet said they could make most any of their entrees gluten-free—and they were careful to mark my ticket “Celiac.”

I just couldn’t order anything deep-fried—unless I was the first customer of the day using a freshly cleaned fryer—as they don’t have a dedicated gluten-free fryer.

Needless to say, I can’t believe I didn’t discover Galaxy Rune, which was located just blocks from my Fremont apartment, until I was literally moving out. Goodness! | galaxy rune on google maps

”We got tired of hearing from non-vegans how there is no such thing as good vegan food. We saw an opportunity and went for it. While this is less lucrative than what we used to do, we are now in a labor of love.

“We are a 100% vegan restaurant. We use nothing derived from animal sources, hydrogenated oils (trans fats), jackfruit, tempeh, or tofu. Our approach to food is to use science to create the best food possible while looking out for the what’s best for the environment and human health.

“To our omnivore customers and potential customers: we’re not here to judge you but to give you the best food possible. So bring your leather jackets and fur coats to us and give us a chance to change your mind on vegan food.”

Harvest Beat

I almost bypassed Harvest Beat because I initially wasn’t sure what kind of vegan restaurant it was. It’s artisanal.

Their savory crepe is absolutely amazing. And now I can’t help but think of all of the amazing gluten-free vegan food I’ve missed out on.

Harvest Beat’s warm ambiance, cozy environment, and artisanal vegan food create a truly special experience. And did I mention their kindness?

One can enjoy a quick lunch or a five-course dinner, dine-in or take-out. | harvest beat on google maps

“We are gathering ‘the goodness’ to help create a healthy world.

“Here at Harvest Beat we are trying to re-invent ourselves.

”We will offer healthy, vibrant food while supporting the farmers and foragers.

”We are also trying to support our employees and keep our restaurant thriving during this unprecedented time.

”We feel a great sense of community during this time. Reaching out, supporting and sharing with others is our goal.

“We truly care.”

Juice Press

Juice Press, at Seattle’s beautiful University Village, is where one can find hearty gluten-free vegan smoothies, juices, and bowls made from nutrient-dense and organic ingredients, from a menu that is very plant-based.

I like to place my order in-store, to enjoy its freshness. Meaning, one can buy pre-made items in the grab-and-go refrigerators at Juice Press, yet it’s definitely possible to avoid pre-packaged food at Juice Press. | juice press on google maps

“We began as the underdog in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, working to fight processed food that had become so pervasive in our society…

“Delivering fresh, nutrient dense, ultra-convenient products to our devoted following … we’ve … stayed committed to making healthy food accessible.

“We’ve earned the trust, respect, and love of our guests by remaining transparent and never compromising our values: we only use the highest quality and freshest organic ingredients.

“We refuse to use processed or artificial ingredients that slim a nutrition label.”

Kati Vegan Thai

Kati (“caught-tee”) is the loveliest little vegan Thai restaurant, in a beautiful building, around the corner from Seattle’s flagship REI store.

Serving 100% vegan food, including gluten-free items, one can dine in or take out. (I loved the sweet messages handwritten on the outside of our paper delivery bags.)

Katie Vegan Thai strives to be honest, respectful, and a sustainable restaurant one can trust. They serve fresh, local, non-GMO tofu, and organic local produce when possible.

Kati states that they do not use artificial flavoring, processed ingredients, added MSG, flavor enhancers, GMO, or hydrogenated cooking oils (ever). | kati vegan thai on google maps

“‘Make it easy,’ she said.

“In Fon's mother's kitchen the nose tingled and eyes watered with the sharp fumes of roasted bird's eye chili.

“The Haw Mok emerged from the steamer in a fragrant cloud. The air was hot with savory garlic and spice, and the sweet smell of jasmine rice—perfectly timed to coincide with the start of dinnertime—meant it was time to eat.

“Fon started Kati Vegan Thai with the belief that food, much like life itself, just needs the right ingredients and timing to shine.

“Says Fon, ‘Perfect does not have to be complicated!’”

Loving Hut

Loving Hut is a vegan restaurant located in Seattle’s Chinatown/International District, part of the largest, fastest-growing family of international vegan restaurants in the world—more than 200 eateries in 35 countries (with more planned).

I consider that a huge climate-friendly feat. I also love that Loving Hut encourages people to “be vegan and go green to save our world.”

Loving Hut offers some gluten-free items on their vegan menu, along with many additional items that they offer to make gluten-free. | loving hut on google maps

“You are a hero! Each time you have a meal at Loving Hut, you are saving precious fresh water, grains and the lives of our cohabitants.

“Eating a vegan diet can be a healthy way to eat when your meals are full of vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains.

“Vegan diet is the most effective way to stop global warming.

“Vegan means that in addition never being tested on animals, the product does not include any animal-derived ingredients.

Más Veggies

Mas Veggies, a vegan taqueria, is a new plant-based vegan pick-up and delivery restaurant that comes from the successful Veggie Grill family of restaurants.

In fact, one picks up their Mas Veggies order inside the Veggie Grill restaurants.

It’s also nice to see their allergy menu linked at the bottom of their website, which listed the following gluten-free menu items when I first went to order:

  • cauliflower asada taco or bowl

  • chipotle carnitas taco or bowl

  • tejano style taco or bowl

  • red rice and beans

  • chips and salsa

  • chips and queso

  • chips and guacamole

  • all of their salsas

Located in both the beautiful University Village and downtown Seattle, what a delight to have this new gluten-free vegan pick-up and delivery option. | más veggies on google maps

“100% plant-based. 100% delicious.

“Más Veggies is a vegan taqueria born to satisfy the cravings of conscious Mexican food lovers.

“We are a pick-up and delivery only restaurant and part of the Veggie Grill family.”

Next Level Burger

Until one steps into the Whole Foods Market in the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle, you might never guess that burgers are being served here—“America’s first 100% plant-based burger joint.”

One might also never guess that they’re organic, non-GMO, and fighting climate change. Because the gluten-free vegan burgers served here look like burgers one might order at a drive-thru from yesteryear.

With a wide range of patties (one can order a patty based on its ingredients), the only thing I’ve wished for after eating at Next Level Burger is that their servings were bigger. But should they be? That is the question. | next level burgers on google maps

“Matt and Cierra had a comfortable life for their young family, but they were very uncomfortable with what they saw happening in the world—escalating climate change, unhealthy eating and … where people get their food.

“They put their heart and soul into building … a plant-based burger chain that would be all about quality and sustainability—non-GMO with all organic veggies—something good for the people and the planet.

“We started with one big idea. The right food can save the world.

“We source organic and non-GMO foods because it’s right for our NLB guests. We pay our teams a living wage because it’s right for our NLB family. We commit to sustainability in everything we do because it’s right for the planet.”

Pi Vegan Pizzeria

In Seattle’s University District, on Roosevelt Way, Pi Vegan Pizzeria makes craft vegan pizza with gluten-free options. Their salad dressings are also made in-house.

While it might initially seem the gluten-free options are minimal, the website menu encourages us to ask what’s available gluten-free—and shows, at the time of this writing, that the following are gluten-free options:

  • bread stix

  • garlic bread

  • saucy sampler

  • house salad

  • caesar salad

  • “chicken” caesar salad

  • salad dressings

  • veggie pizza

  • sunny day pizza

  • margherita pizza

  • pesto pi pizza

  • Thai “chicken” pizza

  • bbq “chicken” pizza

  • “buffalo chicken” pizza

It’s a really cute corner restaurant that comes with rave reviews. | pi vegan pizzeria on google maps

“America's oldest all-vegan pizzeria.

“We use 100% vegan ingredients from the cheeses to the meats, all are completely plant based and no animal products are used anywhere in the restaurant.”

Plum Bistro

Plum Bistro is a beautiful vegan restaurant in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, known for stunning vegan meals with some gluten-free options.

Another artisanal restaurant, Plum Bistro offers a lunch, dinner, and dessert menu, as well as a weekend brunch menu.

Elegant yet casual, I consider Plum Bistro a special vegan restaurant meant for savored gatherings. | plum bistro on google maps

“Makini Howell’s restaurants honor the transformation that is occurring in the way we view food and our personal responsibility to our communities.

“She is a lifelong vegan who believes that what is good for the individual will be good for the planet and that this is nowhere more evident than in the diet we choose.

“Makini has been passionate about creating a beautiful and stylish dining experience for vegans, foodies, and omnivores … to answer the need for complete, plant-based meals focused on organically-grown seasonal vegetables, non-GMO soy, and organic and local fruits and herbs from family-owned farms.”

Veggie Grill

Veggie Grill is currently found in two Seattle locations, with my favorite being their beautiful University Village location.

Veggie Grill’s veggie burgers and sweet potato fries are luring and addictive and they definitely entice those who are not vegan.

Yet it’s their plant-based Kale and Quinoa Power Salad (in the photo above) that I find the most filling and fueling—it can sustain me nearly all day. | veggie grill on google maps

“Since 2006, Veggie Grill has been changing American food culture for the better.

“Better for people, animals, and the planet.

“Comfort food the world can love.

“Eat more plants. Do more good.”

Wayward Vegan Cafe

The first time I went to Wayward Vegan Cafe, years ago, I had my first gluten-free vegan “tuna” melt and it made me the happiest person in the world.

Now when I order from Wayward Vegan, it just might include their ginormous fluffy gluten-free vegan pancakes or their juicy gluten-free vegan All American Burger.

I just can’t help it.

Located in Seattle’s Roosevelt District, Wayward Vegan serves up the vegan version of America’s diner-style food. | wayward vegan on google maps

“Wayward Vegan Cafe was established in 2004, in a residential space that had been serving the vegetarian community for 30 years.

“In 2008, Wayward was about to shutter, when friends … came together to save the last vegan breakfast cafe in Seattle.

“Originally … located in a long-vegan building in a residential area of Seattle University District, Wayward Vegan Cafe has grown so much that it has had to move twice!

“In early 2010, Wayward Vegan Cafe moved to ‘The Ave,’ and business boomed!

“And here in 2015, Wayward moved to a … new location in the Roosevelt neighborhood and added full service, as well as cocktails.

“Go Vegan!”

Restaurants in Seattle Serving Vegetarian Food (with Vegan and Gluten-Free Options)*

Cafe Flora

Cafe Flora is located in Seattle, marketed as vegetarian, yet offers vegan and gluten-free dishes that are absolutely delicious.

This includes healthier plant-based dishes as well as “fast” vegan food that we might only eat on occasion.

I can’t say enough about this establishment, especially since they have also gifted us their baby, Floret (listed below). | cafe flora on google maps

“Cafe Flora has been a Seattle institution for nearly 30 years, capturing the hearts of all our guests with a light-filled atrium and cozy dining room.

“Our delicious vegetarian menu melds global inspiration with the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

“We do our best to source from many Washington Farmers and accommodate dietary needs, while holding true to our belief in delightful and satisfying vegetarian cuisine.

“Join us for brunch, breakfast, lunch, or dinner with some friends or the whole family.”

Floret

Beautiful Floret is located inside Sea-Tac Airport.

This means, if one is flying, it’s the very first (or last) place one can grab gluten-free vegan dining or takeout in Seattle, before continuing on one’s way.

This is exactly what we do whenever we are at Seattle’s airport.

Last visit, I went to Floret while my boyfriend went to baggage claim for us; we met in the sunny atrium at the south end of baggage claim and ate while waiting for our transport.

I may have dreamt about Floret the entire time we were away. | floret on google maps

“Located in Concourse A, nearby gate A1, Floret offers a tranquil and relaxing dining experience like no other at Sea-Tac Airport.

“Large conservatory windows fill the space with natural light and allow guests to view tarmac activity while drinking and dining.

“Floret offers some Cafe Flora classics along with airport-exclusive specials.

“Embodying Cafe Flora’s philosophy of seasonal, local cuisine, Floret is a big open space and a breath of fresh air in the bustling airport.

Take a moment to enjoy delicious vegetarian cuisine during your travels at the sit-down restaurant or grab-and-go counter.”

JhanJay

Now solely located in the earthy heart of Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood, JhanJay is the first Seattle restaurant I visited that caters to vegetarians—and easily to vegans.

JhanJay has always been a kind and thoughtful experience, offering up fresh food made in their open kitchen.

In fact, a particular JhanJay chef whips up the best Pad Thai I’ve ever tasted. His Pad Thai sauce is unbeatable. I just order it gluten-free, no egg. | jhanjay on google maps

“Jhanjay was created with the idea that Thai food diners needed a healthy, meatless alternative with less grease.

“Over time, many of the dishes at our restaurant have become mainstays, while others have evolved into fusions of Southeast Asian cuisine.

“Most of the dishes have roots in old family recipes.

“Please come and enjoy some vegetarian, homestyle Asian cooking. We look forward to serving you.”

Pinckney Cookie Cafe

Mr. Pinckney makes the most delicious gluten-free vegan Miracle Classic Chocolate Chip cookies. I love the way they taste, even straight out of the fridge or freezer.

In fact, all of his gluten-free vegan cookies should be especially comforting to those who are just beginning to explore gluten-free or vegan food.

And Mr. Pinckney is the loveliest person from whom to buy gluten-free vegan cookies. These cookies are clearly made with love.

One can find Mr. Pinckney’s cookie cafe booth, year-round, at three of Seattle’s Farmer’s Markets. They are so good that they sometimes sell out by noon.

pinckney on google maps (Sundays | West Seattle Farmer’s Market)

“Born in 2009 from one man’s creativity and passion … bolstered by the unrelenting enthusiasm and encouragement of friends, family and collaborators … founder Michael Pinckney began the journey you see today!

“While adulthood led him through several adventures and career stages (finance, sales, consulting, technology and management), his pursuit of the perfect chocolate chip cookie with the best ingredients remained constant while his personal recipes evolved.

“His high standards include all natural decadent ingredients, no preservatives and gourmet chocolate - creations that last best in the refrigerator. Or for longer term storage, in the freezer! They also thaw quickly with all of their flavor and texture intact.

“Pinckney Cookie Cafe is a community oriented and environmentally conscious company … passionate about building the kind of business that our neighbors are delighted to have next door.”

Razzis

As someone who’s hoped for years to find amazing gluten-free vegan Italian food, Razzi’s makes it. One would never know their gluten-free vegan meals are exactly that.

My favorite pasta dishes are their lasagne and the fettuccine carbonara with fresh mushrooms (I have Razzi’s leave off the GF vegan “chicken” and tomatoes).

For those of us who don’t normally eat heavily processed food, I’ve also asked Razzis to leave off (or go light on) the vegan cheese.

Their gluten-free vegan calzones are amazing, garlic bread dense and hearty (a meal in itself), their classic side salad is adorably that, and their soup is delicious, too.

*Razzis is the only eatery on my list that is not 100% vegan or vegetarian, but they have a certified GF kitchen that works so hard to serve up safe gluten-free vegan food. | razzis on google maps

“The idea to diversify our menu started a decade ago when we heard that more and more of our customers had either developed gluten-intolerance or had family members suffering from it.

“They could no longer come to our restaurant and enjoy the foods they had grown up with.

“So, we started this journey to make everything on our menu available to those with gluten-intolerance, and by request it spread into lactose-intolerance and other areas as well.

We source as many of our menu items as possible from local, organic markets … we hand-craft our organic gluten-free/vegan baguettes and pizza dough in our own Certified GF Bakery.

“Jodee's Desserts rock the show with her incredible organic, gluten-free/vegan desserts.

“We use all natural, non-toxic and biodegradable cleaners in our restaurant, as well as recycled tissue paper, portion cups, paper plates, plastic ware and to-go containers.”

Sunlight Cafe

Sunlight Cafe has been serving plates of veggie food for more than forty years, many of which can be vegan and gluten-free.

Sunlight Cafe feels like it’s been around forever because it’s been around forever. It’s like sitting down at grandma’s table (or diner), where warmth and food are predictable.

My favorite is their Breakfast Vegetables and Tofu (gluten-free vegan), served with home fries—a perfect potato hash that makes me drool so much I eat the potatoes last.

So I can savor the flavor the rest of the day.

Everything they serve is made in the kitchen or locally sourced. Even their gluten-free vegan desserts. A bonus is that they use no white flour or refined sugars. | sunlight cafe on google maps

“The Sunlight Cafe was founded in 1976 by a group of friends with a passion for good vegetarian and vegan food.

“The Sunlight Cafe has gone through many eras and iterations while always staying true to our mission of providing fresh and hearty vegetarian food to our community.

“With the help of our beloved Sunlight family we moved into our new location in 2018 … [with] patio seating, a cozy space upstairs, and yes those are the same booths!

“The Sunlight Cafe remains in the heart of Roosevelt, one of Seattle’s oldest and fastest growing neighborhoods.

“Find us just one block west of our old place.”

Local Community Markets in Seattle Offering Gluten-Free Vegan Deli Food

PCC Community Markets

PCC is Seattle’s first natural and organic grocery store (now a chain found all over the greater Seattle area). They also offer deli, catering, and special orders.

A favorite market, I could roam their aisles forever.

I love finding gluten-free vegan salads, sides, and mains when out and about needing a quick meal. I’ve also special ordered gluten-free vegan holiday meals from PCC. | pcc markets on google maps

“Authentically Pacific Northwest from the beginning … PCC began as a food-buying club of 15 Seattle families in 1953.

“Since then, our priorities haven’t changed.

“Our mission is to ensure that good food nourishes the communities we serve while cultivating vibrant, local, organic food systems.

“In everything, we strive to inspire and advance the health and well-being of people, their communities and our planet.”

Whole Foods

I also love finding gluten-free vegan deli salads, sides, and mains at Whole Foods when out and about and in need of a quick meal.

Some of my favorite quick grabs at Whole Foods are the hearty gluten-free vegan salads, falafels, and hummus (all found in deli + prepared foods).

I’ve also special ordered gluten-free vegan holiday meals through Whole Foods. | whole foods on google maps

“Whole Foods Market was founded in Austin, Texas, when four local businesspeople decided the natural foods industry was ready for a supermarket format.

“Our founders were John Mackey and Renee Lawson Hardy, owners of Safer Way Natural Foods, and Craig Weller and Mark Skiles, owners of Clarksville Natural Grocery.

“The original Whole Foods Market opened in 1980 with a staff of only 19 people. It was an immediate success.

“At the time, there were less than half a dozen natural food supermarkets in the United States.”
