Port Townsend, Washington

Port Townsend, Washington, is a place I’ve always enjoyed visiting. I typically arrive by ferry. My partner likes a sailboat. Recently, after visiting Hood Canal, we actually drove to PT.

As always, my first priority was to stop at Port Townsend’s Food Co-Op, then Aldrich's. I love to browse their sustainable mercantile goods and sample their tasty gluten-free vegan deli food.

Then it was time to walk the streets of this eclectic town, take in the surrounding water, watch the outdoor activities, witness artistry, relax in coffee shops, and taste more food.

The smell of the sea, the heat of the sun, a minor sandstorm, cool mist, a family of river otters, twin baby deer—and a raccoon foraging at the seashore—provided all kinds of sensory fun.

We might have even enjoyed a little camping.
