(Gluten-Free) Vegan Food in Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley, Idaho
For quite some time, I’ve been enjoying some delicious (gluten-free) vegan food in Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley, Idaho. I want to share exactly where others can find this food, too.
Because the reality of eating in mountain towns is that choices can be limited, food can be more expensive, and people are typically on a brief visit. Time and money can be of the essence.
Since I’m all for making wise choices, I will share where I think the best gluten-free vegan food options are found. These are the food stops I consider special or essential.
In addition, while this curated list is selective, it covers the bases:
restaurants
food trucks
coffee shops
markets
I’ll first list Hailey, then Ketchum, then Sun Valley food establishments, as that’s typically the order in which people reach these towns, heading north.
I’ll also list each establishment in the order that I love to visit them, so this is not my typical alphabetical list.
Most importantly, every body deserves delicious climate-friendly food. Even in mountain towns. Even if we have celiac disease or other dietary restrictions.
Hailey, Idaho
Wylde Beet
I love the Wylde Beet food truck (locations and hours). Entirely vegan, nearly half the menu is gluten-free. I think the meals are so tasty. The jackfruit and mushroom tacos are so so succulent.
“The Wylde Beet was founded in Hailey, Idaho in 2023 with the desire to bring healthy, sustainable, and tasty food to our community.
“We started this journey with the belief that eating more plant-based is one of the many ways to fight climate change, as well as prevent some of the most common diseases that chronically ail so many today.
“We want to make this lifestyle more approachable, accessible and affordable for all.
“After finding ‘Betty’—our beloved food truck—we set out to meet our current (and future) plant-eaters where they are. We want to share with you just how easy, delicious, and uplifting it is to be a part of the solution.
“The Wylde Beet food truck is a place where you can eat and drink thoughtfully. With our 100% plant-based menu, we’re on a mission to make healthy and sustainable dining more available to everyone in our community.
“We work with local vendors to bring you thoughtfully produced foods, drinks, and unique goods that taste good, make you feel great, and help us tread a little more mindfully.
“We aspire to create a space in our community where everyone is welcome and feels like they belong. So, no matter who you are, we hope to see you soon and we hope you come exactly as you are.”
A Taste of Thai
A Taste of Thai serves one of the best gluten-free vegan Pad Thai dishes I’ve ever tasted (the sauce is vegan/tamarind). More GF vegan options are possible by asking. Their affordable lunch fills me up.
“A taste of Thai, Hailey, is known for revolutionizing the way people eat and enjoy food. We take pride in our ability to discover the most unique flavors from around the world and share them with the Hailey area. Join us.”

Hailey Coffee Co
I love the Hailey Coffee Co. for being a coffee shop that serves the best hot chocolate I’ve tasted in my life (with plant milk, no whip). They offer a few more gluten-free vegan food options, too.
“Great coffee shop with a wonderful and large breakfast menu. Vegan and vegetarian options available. Lots of pastries. Wide drink selection. And lots of seating inside and out.
“We roast micro-batch, high-quality Fairtrade Arabica coffee beans and sell them to both retail and wholesale customers throughout the United States. Our café serves delicious gourmet espresso drinks and fresh baked goods from our on-site bakery. All of our coffees are fresh roasted in Hailey and our baked goods are served fresh from the oven.
“Fresh Roasted Beans, superior roasting techniques, a demand for quality, and a well-trained staff are some of the components that we believe truly create ‘The Cup of the Valley.’”

Natural Grocers
I think Natural Grocers is a perfect market to stock up on groceries, personal items, and eco supplies. It’s where I can find nearly any gluten-free vegan item I might need. I love its interior spaciousness.
“Natural Grocers is your valued community grocery store, offering the highest quality produce, dietary vitamins and supplements, body care, and free nutrition education.
“We’re committed to providing the best products and affordable pricing, and that has made us a trusted source for healthy food shopping for more than 50 years.

Hailey Farmer's Market
I love farmer’s markets for fresh organic produce. Their website verifies the current location, days, and hours. If organic produce is not plentiful, the local grocers are almost always well stocked.
“We’re excited to keep the fun (great atmosphere, location, and vendors) of the Hailey market going this summer.
“Customers come shop for seasonal fruits and vegetables … artisan baked goods, jewelry and crafts, and much more.
“Customers are encouraged to bring their own bags and market baskets.
“This market is continuing to accept EBT and offer the Double Bucks program.”
Ketchum, Idaho
Glow Live Food Cafe
Glow is nearly entirely gluten-free vegan, organic, and where I go to order a variety of GF vegan food. Tasty. Filling. Options. I first verify prices as the menu prices have not always matched the bill.
“Plant-Based. Organic. Sustainable.
“Dr. Molly Brown is a holistic doctor in Ketchum, Idaho. She … owns GLOW, a plant-based, organic cafe opened in 2008, through which she leads seasonal group cleanses and offers individualized meal plans and lifestyle support.
“Her work reflects her passion for consciousness, spirituality, and natural health.”
Ginger Sweet
Ginger Sweet is nearly entirely gluten-free vegan, organic, and where I go for juices and light fare. I love their simple minimalist shop, beautiful presentation, kind staff—and that I get to return my juice jars for credit.
“Makenzie and Travis started Ginger Sweet in 2019 after experiencing first-hand the health benefits of incorporating organic, fresh-pressed juice into their daily lives. They sought to bring this healing potential to the Wood River Valley, opening Ginger Sweet in the heart of Ketchum.
“Ginger Sweet is … offering organic and fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, and bowls.
“At Ginger Sweet, we believe in supporting our customers to live an energized, vibrant life by providing nourishment that tastes, looks, and feels good; what you nourish your body with fuels how you live.
“At Ginger Sweet, all of our juices, smoothies, and foods are … unpasteurized, 100% organic, cold-pressed daily, and made in small batches with no high-pressure processing (HPP).
“Please note our menu changes often—instore menu will have specials & the most up to date menu.
“Help us keep Sun Valley clean! Bring your Ginger Sweet jar back and get 10% off your next juice.”
Atkinsons Market
Atkinsons has added tons of gluten-free vegan and eco products to their shelves. I can find nearly all groceries and household needs here. To avoid crowds, I shop when they open or right before they close.
The Sun Valley Institute for Resiliency shares the following about Atkinsons…
“Whatever you do, please don't call Whit Atkinson a hero. As vice president of Atkinsons' Market, Whit credits his crew for the success of the family-owned grocery chain.
“But his commitment to purchasing from community food producers has helped make Atkinsons' one of the Valley's largest access points for locally grown food.
“‘Food is important to me both personally and professionally,’ explains Whit.
“‘Not only do I love fresh, healthy, high-quality food, I have an obligation to provide it to the Wood River Valley…’”
Village Market
Village Market is where I go for anything I can’t find at Atkinsons. I love their later hours and their peaceful, less crowded, shopping experience. Some items have been more expensive, though not all.
“The Independent Grocery store is alive and well and your Village Market is proud to be among the finest…
“Born in 1967 in the small mining town of Minturn, Colorado, the Village Market now has … locations serving Edwards, Colorado; Moab, Utah; Ketchum, Idaho; and Telluride/Mt. Village Colorado.
“Whether you visit us every week or are simply in town for the weekend, your Village Market makes shopping easy and convenient.
“As unique as the communities we serve, each of our full service markets offer the highest quality products … with the service our customers deserve.
“We are excited to finally be online. Be sure to check back each week for our weekly ad … help save a tree by looking online.”
Ketchum Farmer's Market
The Ketchum Farmer’s Market is moving back to a beautiful location. Their website verifies the exact details, days, and hours. If organic produce is not plentiful, the local grocers are almost always well stocked.
“Local deliciousness.
“We have a great variety of vendors. You will find producers selling fruits, vegetable & flowers … as well as prepared food offerings. Lots of baked goods, artisan breads, pies & other desserts, jams, jellies, sauces & dressings. Health products & crafts including jewelry, handmade wood products & more.

The Place
The Place is Sun Valley’s employee cafe (ID required). I’m sharing this in honor of employees who might not realize they can order at least two gluten-free vegan meals, along with a few treats. Details below.
“Employee meals are provided in our employee dining room called The Place.
“The Place offers a variety of options and is open for 3 meal periods a day.
“The average cost of a meal is $3.00 and they accept debit, credit, or cash.”
Beyond Burger, GF [this might be the biggest and best tasting Beyond Burger I’ve seen, with an artisanal-style GF bun, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and sauce; a rare treat, of course]
Salad Bar [this tiny salad bar is mighty, allowing one to load up on dark leafy greens and hearty toppings, which I’ve seen ski instructors wolf down]
Snacks [gluten-free vegan grab and go snacks seem to rotate through The Place per availability, so I think it’s worth checking regularly]
