Chimacum Corner Farmstand (in Chimacum, Washington)
We stopped by the Chimacum Corner Farmstand (in Chimacum, Washington) one last time, before leaving the Olympic Peninsula, on our way to Canada for a bit.
I consider this natural grocer equal to inhaling oxygen. It’s entirely necessary. It helps us live. And it’s such a relief to experience it when we’ve been deprived of it.
The Chimacum Corner Farmstand is also a beacon of hope—embracing kindness and respect.
Much of the Olympic Peninsula is rural, yet I’ve experienced this farmstand and the oldest part of Port Townsend as diverse. I love diversity.
One might mistake the Corner Farmstand as a gravel or dirt parking lot at times … but look closely to see its glow. String lights. Pretty trees, plants, and ceramics. Birdhouses and more.
I’m easily drawn to the outdoor nursery first, to look up at the windmill, to see if the local farmers are on site that day, to smell the earthen smells, and to peek at the pretty outdoor goods.
And I love the front entrance. Two swinging doors that open both ways. It reminds me of the old days when small rustic local corner stores were our norm.
After entering, I immerse myself in the extensive produce offered, the affordable prices, and the paper bags available (for when I’ve forgotten my reusable bags).
I find it especially fun to see their “scratch and dent” discounted produce section.
The Chimacum Corner Farmstand has been the place on the peninsula where I could find a supply of organic satsuma/mandarin oranges in winter—plus packaged in cardboard.
Next, I roam through the deli section. Since we were hitting the road soon, I may have stocked up on a few extra gluten-free vegan ready-to-go goodies. I hear tell.
I always walk past the community bulletin board, too, to read about the local diverse offerings. It’s just beyond the personal supplies, which I am naturally compelled to browse en route.
I also enjoyed the unique brands that the Chimacum Corner Farmstand stocked—some brands I’ve never otherwise seen, like Cadia and MadeWith.
Speaking of things I love at this market … I adore some of the logos and slogans placed on the warm-hued t-shirts sold here. A few earthy reminders about what truly matters.
Most of all, I’ve so appreciated interacting with the warm, kind, welcoming, and diverse staff at the Chimacum Corner Farmstand. They’ve been the breath of nourishing air in this region.
“We’re a rural natural grocer and nursery at the heart of Olympic Peninsula’s vibrant farm and food scene! Welcome to Chimacum Corner Farmstand—or as most locals call us, the Corner—a place where we know our farmers and artisans by name. Born out of humble farmstand beginnings, we’ve since grown into a busy local hub providing provisions of all kinds. Thanks to our region’s agricultural bounty, alongside its many talented and ambitious growers and makers, we center hyper-local goods and are focused on sustainability at large. We’re Keepin’ It Local and think you should too, so come on down and see us soon!”
