Brown Pelicans Flying (in Santa Barbara, California)

While in Santa Barbara, California, Brown Pelicans were flying so quietly and close to us that they always surprised me. I was completely mesmerized by their presence.

They glided by. They floated by. As if inviting us to take a close look at their beautiful features. Which is all I could manage to do.

Stare. Take them in with my eyes. Marvel at their beautiful existence.

What’s unbelievable is that the only time I managed to photograph them I was fumbling with my cell phone. No time to look at the screen. No time to focus. Just press click click click.

I can’t believe these photos turned out. I can’t believe we get to stare closely at these beautiful Brown Pelicans now … any moment we choose.
