Fotografiska in Stockholm, Sweden
Fotografiska is one of our favorite places to visit, each time we’re in Stockholm.
However, the photography exhibit that we saw most recently was difficult to view. Yet it was so important to see:
“…so many of the decisions that drive history are made with such obvious disregard for what has happened in the past, it’s not unreasonable to conclude that those decisions are not made out of ignorance or forgetfulness; they are purposeful, sometimes arrogant or reckless, often supported by deceitful manipulations of history devised to rationalize current political agendas. And in the gap between power and truth, between political ambition and wisdom, awaits tragedy.”
Its impact on humanity was emotionally painful to witness.
After spending a couple hours viewing the exhibit, we walked up to Fotografiska’s top floor. This is where their cafe and restaurant provide space for coming together, “to inspire a more conscious world.”
Their socially responsible efforts are everywhere.
Including in the magical beverages they have brewing.
As fate would have it, while sipping a RSCUED smoothie, the fireman who helped save our apartment building the other night literally walked in and sat down before us. We wanted to thank him, yet he was having a serious meeting. So we just stared … and stared … frozen in all this happenstance.
We eventually pulled ourselves down to the gift shop, which sells some stunning gf vegan books. (Ironically, we had a little challenge finding gf vegan food up in the restaurant, so I wondered if I should run these books up to the chef … she says with a wink. =)
Most of our day was spent in the exhibit, restaurant, and gift shop.
As we contemplated more conscious action to take on our journey.
Like kindness.
